Difficulty: High. Only for people between 18 and 45 years of age. Not ad for pregnant women or people with heart, respiratory or mobility disorders.
Description: Departure from Los Notros, in one of our vans to the pier Bajo de Las Sombras, located only 1 km from the Hostería. A 10 minutes sail across the Rico Arm from Argentino Lake, will take you to the opposite shore. Mountain guides will welcome you at the shelter, very close to the Perito Moreno Glacier. After checking the gear, you will be ready to pick up the crampons and walk following the lateral moraine towards the centre of the glacier. After an hour’s walk the point where the ice trek start will be reach. During the walk you will be introduced to a number of features within the ice, huge moulins, crevasses, caves, the glacier’s deep blue colour, the freezing little lakes on the surface, etc. You will hike for about 3 hours, and spend some time having lunch somewhere on the middle of the Glacier. Expert mountain guides will always lead you, looking after you safety. Back on the moraine the descent start to catch the boat. Our vans will take you back to the Hostería.
Comments: we suggest you to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, gloves, hiking boots, hat, and waterproof outwear. Changes and cancellations can be made until 5 p.m. of the previous day. Remember to choose the available meals for the lunch box the previous day.
